The #BoroughCoastcarers are a monthly volunteering group based in Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale. These passionate volunteers focus on the removal of invasive weeds such as Myrtle-leaf Milk-wort (Polygala myrtifolia) and Italian Buckthorn (Rhamnus alaternus). Their efforts help protect Coastal Moonah Woodland, a threatened plant community that is home to many special plants and animals along our coastline.
Volunteers will be guided by experienced conservation field staff. Volunteers will need to BYO safety gear (enclosed shoes, gloves, glasses). All activities are subject to weather warnings and considerations. Meet at the Point Lonsdale Rip View Carpark, east end of Ocean Road, Point Lonsdale. Email info@bcn.org.au for more information.
This program is funded and supported by the Borough of Queenscliffe with assistance from the Swan Bay Environment Association.

The Swan Bay Environment Association has continued its planting of the pocket parks in the Borough. With the help of local residents and interested community members, three Parks have been completed, Douglas Court, Jennifer Crescent and Bezzant Reserve. We are planting indigenous shrubs and ground covers to increase the habitat for a range of wildlife and to create a more enjoyable green space for neighbouring residents.
At each park we hold community meetings with nearby residents to together develop a planting plan that they are happy with and to encourage them to contribute to the care of the plants over the summer months.
If you would like to join us in completing planting at Downton Crescent on Sunday September 10 at 10.30 am you would be most welcome. The work is not onerous and there is no obligation to stay for the whole session and we will finish with a cuppa!
Wear sturdy shoes and bring your gardening gloves.
