Bellarine Catchment Network

Who we are

Bellarine Catchment Network (BCN) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation managed by a volunteer committee of management. We are an integrated and collaborative network consisting of 32 different community organisations, ‘Friends Of’, land managers, Landcare and Coastcare.

Our collective goal is to protect and conserve our catchments, coastal areas and inland bushlands with strong connections to our local communities. We facilitate over 20 projects and programs within the Geelong and Bellarine region that have significant environmental and community outcomes. BCN works through and for the Network groups and organisations and the wider community to achieve these environmental outcomes.

The Network

The Network is comprised of representatives catchment and coastal organisations (both government and non-government) with an integrated catchment management focus. This includes environment and community groups, 'Friends Of', land managers, Landcare and Coastcare groups

What drives us

  • Less than 5% of pre-European remnant vegetation remains in the Bellarine region. Action is needed to protect and enhance what remains.
  • Australia’s biodiversity is under increased threat and continues to decline. Action is needed to reverse this trend.
  • Urban growth has and continues to impact our local ecosystems and any development must, as much as possible, support our ecosystems and be environmentally sustainable.
  • We must mitigate and adapt to climate change
