The Swan Bay Environment Association has begun its planting of the pocket parks in the Borough. With the help of local residents and interested community members, two Parks have been completed, Douglas Court and Jennifer Crescent. We are planting indigenous shrubs and ground covers to increase the habitat for a range of wildlife and to create a more enjoyable green space for neighbouring residents.
At each park we hold community meetings with nearby residents to together develop a planting plan that they are happy with and to encourage them to contribute to the care of the plants over the summer months.
If you would like to join us on the last planting day for this year Saturday October 15 at 2pm you would be most welcome. The work is not onerous and there is no obligation to stay for the whole session and we will finish with a cuppa!
Wear sturdy shoes and bring your gardening gloves.
