When and where was the last Southern Brown Bandicoot seen locally?  Bandicoots are cute animals that were once abundant and played an important ecological role in maintaining local vegetation, digging and aerating soil and spreading vital fungi via droppings. The Bandicoots were able to maintain small populations long after the initial white settlers radically changed the habitats of the Bellarine. But what of them now?

After a brief AGM reporting on SBEA activities for 2022, you are invited to discover which other indigenous animals similarly struggled, but also the animals that managed to thrive in the changed landscape when local wildlife expert Barry Lingham speaks about Historical Changes to our Local Fauna.

Barry is a retired secondary school teacher with a strong interest in the ecological connections of the Bellarine flora and fauna and the development of systems to conserve local biodiversity. He is a Life Member of both the Geelong Field Naturalists Club and the Friends of Ocean Grove Nature Reserve.
