Swan Bay Environment Association’s (SBEA) Community Weeding Project is commencing on Sunday 9th of October opposite the Point Lonsdale Queenscliff Automotive Centre on the Bellarine Hwy (See Map).
This will be the first of many weeding days, we have more sites across Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale that need a helping hand. We are letterboxing about 100 houses near the area to be weeded and we would appreciate any help from other interested members of the community.
Removing weeds is key to habitat regeneration. Removing weeds allows light, nutrients, and water to reach our indigenous plants. Weed removal disturbs the seed bank in the soil causing natives to naturally regenerate. Native plants provide food and shelter to our wildlife. Weeding is a great way to connect to Nature and other residents. There are no expectations on you to do more than you feel up to do, and there is no pressure to stay for the whole session.
