Join us at Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk for a hands-on Winter Flora Identification session, helping us build a better understanding of the plants growing across the site.

Together, we’ll walk through the site and visit five designated survey points, identifying and recording the flora species we find along the way. The information collected will contribute to a growing record of the biodiversity present at Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk.

What will we do?

During the session, volunteers will:

• Walk between five designated survey points throughout the site
• Look closely at the plants present at each location
• Work together to identify flora species
• Record the species observed at each survey point
• Learn how to document observations using iNaturalist
• Contribute observations to real-world biodiversity databases that help researchers, land managers and the community understand local ecosystems

You’ll have the opportunity to learn about the plants found at Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk while developing your flora identification and citizen science skills.

Why is this important?

Regularly recording the species present at the site helps build a long-term picture of its biodiversity. By contributing observations to platforms such as iNaturalist, our community observations can become part of broader biodiversity datasets and help track what species are present and how they may change over time.

Who can participate?

All volunteers are welcome! You don't need to be a flora expert or have previous experience with plant identification.

Whether you're already interested in native plants or simply keen to learn more about the flora around you, this is a great opportunity to get outdoors, build your identification skills and contribute to meaningful community science.
