Coastal Discovery Stall - 10am - 3pm

Visit the Coastal Discovery Stall at the Barwon Heads Playground along Flinders Parade this January to explore the wonders of the coast - from the local Hooded Plovers, the creatures found in our rockpools as well as how to get involved in local environmental groups. Explore the table-top beachcomb, pick up some brochure so or do a colouring in!

Beach and Bush Detectives - 12pm - 1:30pm

Explore the amazing wonders of the local coastline and surrounding bushland vegetation with this interactive, hands-on activity where you can explore, touch, identify and learn about plants and animals. This activity is aimed at both children and adults so all are welcome. Adults need to accompany children under 12. There are limited spots available so please register.

What's involved: Local environment groups will be facilitating a tabletop beachcomb, craft and other activities at this stall from 10am - 3pm. Then, from 12pm - 1:30pm, registered participants will go on a bush and beach detectives activities lead by experienced staff, looking for creatures and artefacts along the shoreline. Participants can pick up educational resources such as posters, brochures and more at this stall, find out about the local environment groups and understand more about local coastal treasures and issues.

Please BYO: hat, sunscreen, water and booties or enclosed shoes like sneakers (no flip flops or sandals). It is suggested to wear bathers or shorts if intending to enter the water.

Access: Parking can be difficult at this time of year, so you may want to leave extra time to find a park. Walk into the Barwon Heads Playground at Frank Ellis Reserve, Barwon Heads, and look for the Bellarine Catchment Network marquee and tables. This activity will be run along the shoreline, but we may be able to accommodate wheelchairs - please get in contact. The event will be run in English but please contact us if you require support as we work to accommodate everyone.

Note: Please do not attend if you are unwell. This event is also subject to weather conditions and will be postponed if weather is not safe or unfavourable. All participants will be notified 24 hours before.

This stall is supported by Barwon Coast and the 'Bush and Beach Detectives' activity is supported by Coastcare Victoria via their Summer By The Sea program. For more information, please email us at info@bcn.org.au or visit www.environmentbellarine.org.au
