Join us at Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk to take part in a community bird monitoring session and help us learn more about the birds that call this special place home.
As part of this ongoing citizen science program, volunteers will help monitor bird biodiversity across the site and build a long-term understanding of how bird diversity and habitat health change across the seasons.
During this 2-hour session, participants will work together to survey five designated locations throughout Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk.
At each location, we will spend 10 minutes quietly observing and listening for birds before moving to the next survey point. Participants will record information such as:
An educator will be available throughout the session to support with bird identification, answer questions and guide participants through the monitoring process.
Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be an experienced birdwatcher or know how to identify birds.
This session is a great opportunity to learn more about local birdlife, develop your observation skills and contribute to community-led citizen science and environmental monitoring.
By collecting consistent observations throughout the year, we can build a better understanding of the bird biodiversity at Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk and how it changes with the seasons.
Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, water and binoculars if you have them.
